Two-Way Developmental Bilingual Enrichment English/Spanish

What is the Two-Way Developmental Bilingual Enrichment Program:
Dual Language or Two-Way Developmental Bilingual program, integrates native English speakers and native speakers of another language (Spanish) for academic content instruction through both English and the partner language beginning in elementary schools. Union Park Elementary School's Two-Way Developmental Bilingual Enrichment magnet program promotes bilingualism and biliteracy, grade-level academic achievement and cross-cultural competence in all students.  Students maintain their native language while adding another language and they develop pride in their own culture while developing an understanding of others.

Program Goals:
-To create a classroom environment that promotes linguistic and cultural equality and     fosters positive attitudes towards other
-To develop interpersonal, academic content, and linguistic competence in English and Spanish
-To develop and use higher level cognitive skills in Spanish and English
-To become a bilingual, bi-literate, and bicultural global citizen

The electronic application for the lottery opens on November 1st, at 9:00 a.m. and will close at midnight on February 15thStudents do not have to re-apply for admission into the same magnet program in which they are currently enrolled.

2018-2019 Magnet Application
