9/21 – 9/25, is National Start with Hello Week. This event is organized by Sandy Hook Promise, a nonprofit organization led by several family members who lost loved ones in Sandy Hook Elementary School. Start with Hello teaches students the skills they need to reach out and include those who may be dealing with chronic social isolation and create a culture of inclusion and connectedness within their school. During this week, schools are encouraged to kick-off their Start with Hello program by participating in activities that foster inclusion.
