Union Park Elementary School Library provides a wide variety of books for students to borrow to help increase their love of reading.  It is our goal to ensure that our students have access to as many reading resources as possible through books and online reading materials.  Reading is one of the most important skills your child will learn in school. Your student’s class will visit the school library weekly to select books. In between class visits, students can come to the library before school to return and checkout books.

Students are responsible for the care and handling of the library books.  Any lost or damaged books are the responsibility of the student and will have to be paid for.  If your child does not return a library book, you will receive a notice regarding the book and the cost. If we do not receive the book or reimbursement for the lost book, we will notify you. Eventually, we must be reimbursed for the cost of any lost book. Records and report cards of students with lost books will be held until the book is returned or we are reimbursed for the cost. Please keep books away from pets, food, and all liquids.

Library books may be kept for two weeks.  A book may be renewed (checked out again) if the student is not finished reading it but the book must be brought in to the library for renewal. An overdue (late) book means a student cannot borrow another book until the overdue book is renewed or returned.
